5. Alcohol can also be an issue when it comes to raising your cholesterol level so you are going to want to try to limit the amount that you consume. While there have been studies that have shown that moderate consumption of alcohol can help to lower your cholesterol levels the key word here is moderate. To get the maximum benefit you want to limit your consumption to no more than one drink per day. Any more than that and it will be counterproductive you are going to be raising your cholesterol not lowering it.
